Overview of our upcoming events!
Pack 88 will be making the trip to visit Calaveras Big Trees State Park for a two-night campout from October 17-19, 2025. Established in 1931, Calaveras Big Trees State Park preserves a mixed conifer forest with two groves of giant sequoias - the North Grove and South Grove. In addition to the giant sequoia trees, you will find the Stanislaus River, Beaver Creek, ancient volcanic formations, natural meadows, and trails throughout the park allow you to discover the area that has awed visitors since 1852.
(Signups are currently closed for this campout)
If you're not going to the campout, please join us for Excelsior Sunday Streets on Sunday October 19, 2025 from 11AM-4PM. This is a great opportunity to get the word out about Pack 88 and Cub Scouting in general within the Excelsior neighborhood, which is within Pack 88's geographical focus in the southeastern corner of SF. We'll be sharing fun scout activities including build your own candy campfire, knots, and our go fish game. Please wear your full dress uniform (blue or khaki shirt with neckerchief and hat). Signup will be circulated on WhatsApp Announcements channel soon.
One of our most important community service projects each year is Scouting for Food which benefits the SF Marin Food Bank. On Saturday October 25, 2025 and Saturday November 1, 2025 we'll meet at the Noe Valley Farmers Market from 9:30-11:30AM to distribute flyers and get the word out about donating to the food bank this holiday season. On Saturday, November 8, 2025 we'll meet at 24th and Sanchez Streets to distribute flyers in the neighborhood (from 24th to 30th Street along Sanchez and side streets) and return the following Saturday, November 15, 2025 to retrieve donations of canned goods. Signups for these activities will be distributed on WhatsApp soon!
Scouting follows the Scouting Method:
Following the Scout Oath, Scout Law, Scout Motto, and Outdoor Code
Belonging to a Den with 6-8 cubs of the same grade level
Working on activities to learn new skills, and then to be recognized for those achievements through badges.
Participating in outings and events with the whole family
Serving the neighborhood through service projects
We believe outdoor adventures are a core focus of being a Scout. Our meetings are outdoors as much as possible, and along with the fun activities done during den meetings, we try to use outings and campouts to teach independence, leadership, and care for the environment.
All scouts will learn age-appropriate skills such as knot tying, hiking, cooking, camping, building, reading maps, how to use a pocket knife, and so much more!
ALL kids from Kindergarden through 5th grade can join Cub Scouts! (Older kids can join Scouts BSA, formerly called Boy Scouts). We don't discriminate based on gender identity, sexual orientation, religious or non-religious beliefs, ability to pay dues, or anything else!
Feel free to stop by one of our meetings to see what we do. We meet most Wednesdays from 5:30-6:30 in the Bayview neighborhood at the SF Fire Department Union Hall at 325 Newhall Street, San Francisco. It's best to contact the Cubmaster to chat beforehand so we know you're coming.
